At Lakeland Catholic School District, we are blessed with cultural diversity and we celebrate students and staff with diverse backgrounds through our inclusive practices.
What makes your schools welcoming, caring, respectful and safe?
As we strive to be like Christ our model, along with students and parents, our District works to ensure all schools provide welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments.
We are intentional about honoring the dignity, and individuality of everyone.
We respect diversity and nurture a sense of belonging and a positive sense of self for all.
How does this impact student learning and achievement?
When students feel like they belong and that they are truly valued, it encourages them to be successful and stay in school. At Lakeland Catholic, students, staff, families and community partners treat each other fairly and kindly.
When visitors walk through the hallways of your schools, what will they see?
Visitors to schools within Lakeland Catholic School District will see that Christ is the focus, and treating others the way He demonstrated is our mission. They will notice:
- Healthy and respectful relationships being fostered
- Students who feel that adults care for them as a group and as individuals
- Diversity being respected, celebrated and understood in the words, and actions of everyone.
What supports do you have in place for English Language Learners?
For many of our students, English is not their first language. These students speak a first language or additional languages other than English and require support in developing their English language skills to be successful in the classroom.
At LCSD, we have a Cultural Liaison to support families and their children as they transition into the school community and an English as a Second Language Instructional Coach to provide programming support for teachers and English Language Learners.
