Lakeland Catholic School District is pleased to announce Leanne MacDonald as the new Vice Principal at Assumption Junior/Senior High School in Cold Lake.
Leanne was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Leanne and her husband Scott have two children, a daughter Mhairi who is 8 years old and a son Ryan who is 4 years old.
She graduated from Cape Breton University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science with a Major in Biology. She completed a Bachelor of Education degree in Secondary Education from St. Francis Xavier University in 2003. She holds a Masters of Education degree in Education (Administration and Leadership) from St. Francis Xavier University which she obtained in 2012.
Her teaching career began in 2003 at Elizabeth Settlement near Cold Lake, Alberta. She taught Grade 1, Grade 7/8 Math and Science and she was Principal for one year. In 2014, Leanne began teaching with Lakeland Catholic at Assumption Junior/Senior High School as a Classroom Support Teacher (CST).
Leanne enjoys spending time with friends and family. She volunteers with her daughter’s hockey team as a team manager and she is a member of Holy Name Parish at 4-Wing Cold Lake where she volunteers in the reading ministry.
When asked about what she hopes to bring to this position, she said, “I truly feel blessed to be part of Catholic Education where we educate both the mind and spirit. Over the past three years, the staff, students and families of Assumption Junior/Senior High School have been welcoming and supportive. I look forward to building and growing these relationships in my new capacity as an administrator."
Leanne will commence her position as Vice Principal at Assumption Junior/Senior High School in August 2017. Congratulations Leanne on your new position.
